Although some women prefer to go on a low cut but a larger percentage wants to have long and beautiful hair – I want it too.

Having a healthy hair seems almost impossible with the increase in bad food and our “not too healthy” lifestyle habits.

However, it is not an impossibility – below are healthy hair tips that will help you achieve an amazing hair, the kind that will sweep everyone off their feet when you walk past them.

Avoid Washing of the Hair on a Daily Basis

When you wash your hair everyday, you give more room for the natural oils to dry. You could wash your hair once a week to retain the oil. It must be stated that there is a difference between not washing enough and not washing on a daily basis. You gave to wash your hair but don’t do it on a daily basis – there has to be a balance in between.

Treat Your Hair with Care when it’s Wet

When the hair is wet, the roots are softer and could lead to hair breakage if roughly handled. Shampoo your hair carefully or use a shower cap before bathing if you don’t want your hair to be wet.

Ensure that you trim your hair when due

Some say trimming monthly is good but it must be known that you are just wasting away your hair, trim only when needed, for maintenance two to three times a year is okay. Trimming guarantees a shining and smooth hair, it also helps hair growth by getting rid of hair fall.

Keep Your Hair Away from Sun and Rain

Too much exposure to sun, dirt and pollution can be dangerous for the hair. You could prevent this by having a scarf or a cap in your bag when you notice such. These entire elements can form as dirt thereby drying the hair oil. This can also lead to scalp infections.

Condition Properly

Conditioners help to retain the moisture of the hair. Do not condition close to the scalp as this will make it too oily.

Do not use Tight Hair Bonds

Hair bonds that are too tight will only pull your hair which causes breakage. Use bonds that are free and won’t prevent your hair from becoming fuller.

A shampoo and conditioner created by one brand would have similar composition and would be more effective than when they are both from different brands. But that is not to say stick to it if it doesn’t work for you, you can always switch and find what works best for your hair.

Do Not Use Hair Straighteners Regularly

Avoid using straighteners every time as the heat could remove moisture from the hair. They could also burn your hair if used excessively. Always remember to use a hair protectant before using the straighteners. Also, avoid using hot tools too close to the scalp, and pulling too tight on the hairs. Sometimes let your hair be natural and let it grow rather than damaging the follicles with too much heat.

Do Not Rub Your Hair When Drying

Sometimes, to speed up the drying process, most women rub their hair making some hair fall off. Pat your hair gently with a towel until its completely dry to avoid breakage.

Weave Your Hair before Sleeping

Some girls go to bed without weaving their hair and wake up with a messy hair the next morning. Make it an habit to braid your hair before bed. Tossing and turning all over the bed can make an open hair to tangle. This means you have to start brushing the hair in the morning and this can lead to hair loss.

This can be used before shampooing your hair to break up product residue. You can also use it after you have washed the shampoo off your hair for a brighter and shining hair.

Brush Your Hair

Brushing helps in ensuring that the natural oil is extended to the length of your hair. When you brush your hair, you give it more strength. Brush your hair twice a day but don’t brush until its dry. It is not advisable to use an hair brush that is made from plastic.

Moisturize with Shea Butter

The hair oil in this  type of hair dries up easily so you have to moisturize regularly. Shea butter is a natural moisturizer that you can use. Other oils like coconut oil and olive oil are good too.

De-tangle Regularly

A tangled hair is prone to breakage. Always detangle your hair  with comb while using a conditioner to ease the process. You can also pull out tangled hair with your hands gently until its completely detangled.

Conditioning

While other type of hair could be conditioned in every two weeks or more, a natural hair needs to be conditioned once every week.  Weekly conditioning will make your hair healthy, shiny and tangle free.

Do Not Over Style

Too much of hair styling can lead to breakage as styling products can dry your hair oils and weaken it. Be protective, gentle and cautious when styling your hair.  Make protective hairstyle that requires little maintenance, safe guard the ends of your hair and also provides an opportunity to  moisturize when necessary. Ginger

Although ginger is used to treat cold but it also contains minerals like magnesium, phosphorus, vitamins and potassium, that are good for the hair.

Almonds

Almonds are rich in vitamin E and helps to improve the growth and smoothness of the hair.

Iron

Lack of iron could lead to loss of hair, so do well to eat iron rich food such as Oranges, lemons, broccoli, leafy greens, melon and so on.

Omega-3

it helps reduce inflammation, which causes hair shedding. Food  sources of omega 3 are salmon, navy beans, flaxseed oil, and chia seeds.

Honey and Coconut Oil
